OverviewPW4,PY3,PY42 - Semi Opaque
Naples yellow, one of the oldest synthetic pigments with very good hiding power, coloring power, drying properties and chemical stability. A lead antimonate used as a color tint in yellow ceramic glazes as far back as Babylon and Assyria and also found in 19th Dynasty Egyptian glass. It was said to have been a pigment in the Old Masters' palette, but its history is uncertain overall. Nowadays replaced by a very reliable combination of mainly iron oxide and zinc white, because lead is toxic and has now been banned.
